What is a Baby Sleeping Bag?

Baby sleeping bags are designed to be a replacement for cot top sheets, the sleeping bags prevent the child from ever putting his/her head under the sheets and allowing them to have a safe and comfortable nights sleep.

How do I know if my baby is warm enough?

Sleeping bags come in 3 main tog ratings*:-

Please don't be fooled into thinking that 2.5 tog bags are for winter and 1 tog bags are for summer, summer nights can be very cool and in winter we generally keep our houses warm.

The tog rating of the sleeping bag you use depends on the temperature of the baby’s nursery. Try to keep baby’s room at a reasonably constant temperature.

Ideally you will have both a 1 tog and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. The 2.5 is for general use throughout the year. 1 tog is for warmer rooms, when the temperature is regularly over 22ºc. If your baby is too warm or too cool then simply adjust their nightwear

Nursery thermometers are a good investment for determining the correct tog for your nursery. 

Choosing a size

An ideal time to start using a Grobag baby sleeping bag is when your baby weighs more than 7 lbs (0-6 mths size). It is very important to check that your baby’s head cannot pass through the neck-hole when the Grobag baby sleeping bag is fastened for use.

Choosing a Tog

As you can see, Grobag baby sleeping bags are available in three tog ratings.

Please note: A number of external factors determine the tog rating of the sleeping bag that should be used. These include the quantity of clothing the baby is wearing, the temperature of the infant's bedroom, the baby's health and the amount of bedding necessary to keep an individual infant warm – this may vary, just as it does for adults.

Please remember to check your baby regularly to ensure they do not overheat.
